Afterschool Alliance
The Afterschool Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of afterschool programs and advocating for quality, affordable programs for all children. It is supported by a group of public, private and nonprofit organizations that share the Alliance's vision of ensuring that all children have access to afterschool programs by 2010.
Community School of the Arts
Using instruction in music, visual arts, dance and drama, CSA provides quality arts experiences to enrich the lives of children and their families.
POST (Partners in Out of School Time)
The purpose of POST is to ensure that all school-age children and youth in Mecklenurg County will have access to high-quality programs, activities and opportunities in their out-of-school time. POST's mission is to build the capacity of individuals and organizations that provide for and support school-age youth.
Children's Defense Fund
A national organization with the goals of meeting children's needs, preventing poverty, advocating for children, engaging faith communities. Children's Defense Fund Freedom Schools
We are excited to host six Freedom School summer camp sites for inner-city children. Freedom Schools are literacy based summer camp programs that encourage a love of reading along with fun camp activities. College intern role models are used as camp counselors. We are always looking for young, energetic college students to serve as interns for the following summer.

Last summer, Dr. Bruce Taylor of UNCC brought his students to Freedom School to work with our middle school students on designing websites. Here is the fruit of their labors! This great website is the closest you can get to experiencing Freedom School yourself!
