Volunteer mentors and tutors
Meet some of our heroes
Retirees, students, corporate executives, and front-line workers -- persons from diverse backgrounds who bring experience and caring to the children with whom they work.
Community Partners
In partnership with the Community School of the Arts, we provide visual arts and music education for our students year-round. A variety of opportunities are possible for our students through collaborations with groups such as the Children's Theatre of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation, Carolina Raptor Center, and the Charlotte Youth Ballet. These partnerships extend to our work with parents, who benefit from workshops and training provided by Parent Partners of North Carolina.
Director, Mary Nell McPherson
Mary Nell has worked in the non-profit sector for over 20 years, and came to Partners as the founding Executive Director in January 2000. An ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA), she believes that education and the knowledge of God's love are the keys for children growing into their potential.

Staff
Learn more about our staff
Outstanding commitment and extremely low staff-turnover are hallmarks of the Partners staff. We maintain low student:teacher ratios to ensure the individual attention students need to succeed. Our staff goes above and beyond in reaching out to parents and connecting with the public schools, for the sake of the children we serve.
Campus
The afterschool and summer programs operate out of a wonderful new facility in the new Seigle Point development. The new space houses administrative offices, expanded classroom space, the library/computer lab and provides space for parent programs.
